Welcome to my portfolio.

My name is Josh, an English expat living in Amsterdam currently specialising in digital product visualisation. I have a strong drive to get involved in animation and FX which has led me to spending a lot of time outside of work learning how to use Houdini

Info

I am an extremely passionate 3D artist, always keen to learn and develop my skills. During my time in Amsterdam I have been working for SGS&Co predominantly on the Philips account, creating product renderings of the Philips portfolio.

Experience

I started my career in SGS&Co straight out of university after completing my degree in product design. During my studies I found a passion for 3D visualisation and decided to pursue my career in this rather than following the Design route. SGS initially employed me for my 3D experience as they had interest in expanding into this side of the industry. My initial role was that of a creative retoucher/2D visualiser, after proving the benefits of using 3D software over Photoshop for visualisation the amount of work quickly began to increase. SGS pitched for the Philips work in 2016 and I relocated to the Amsterdam studio shortly after securing work from the initial pitch. Since this time the account has grown exponentially. What started as solely producing the renders developed into hiring, training and leading a team. I am now the lead artist of the CGI team of the Amsterdam studio. Between the Philips work I have also worked for the Marks Design side of SGS&Co producing marketing visuals for a variety of household goods.

Skills

During my career I have become proficient in using a variety of different programs and changed my methods if a better way of working has presented itself. I began with 3D Studio max, Mental Ray and Photoshop. As methods and software has developed over time I have updated my skills and knowledge and am now highly competent in After Effects, Nuke, Maya, Phoenix FD, Zbrush, Substance and Houdini. For my current day-to-day work I use Maya, V-ray and Nuke.
